Privacy policy
Main Out is a private publishing tool. A small team uses it to prepare, schedule and track posts on the social media accounts it manages. There is no public sign-up: only people the owner adds can sign in.
This page explains what Main Out stores, who helps run it, and how the Main Out backups Google app uses Google data.
What Main Out stores
- Team members: name and email address, used to sign in and to decide what each person may do.
- Posts: the videos, captions, titles, settings and schedules the team prepares.
- Connected accounts: the social media accounts the team connects, with their names, identifiers and the options each platform reports. Main Out never sees the passwords of those accounts.
- Records: what was approved, sent and published, and when, so the team can check every result.
Uploaded videos are deleted automatically one hour after their post is live, or seven days after a post stops without publishing. Videos still in a draft, or never used in a post, stay until the team deletes them.
Who helps run Main Out
- Cloudflare hosts Main Out, stores its data and backups, and sends the one-time sign-in codes.
- Zernio receives approved posts (video, caption and settings), publishes them on the social media platforms and reports what happened.
- YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook receive the posts published on them, under their own terms.
- Google Drive holds an encrypted copy of the database backups (see below).
Main Out does not sell data, does not show advertising and does not use data to train AI models.
The Main Out backups app and Google data
Main Out backs up its own database every day. The Main Out backups app copies these backups into a folder in the owner's Google Drive, so that a copy exists outside Cloudflare.
- One permission. The app asks Google only for
drive.file: access to the files and folders it creates itself. It cannot see, open or change anything else in the Drive. - What it does. It creates a "Main Out backups" folder, uploads backup files into it, checks each upload's size and checksum, and deletes older backups on a fixed schedule: 30 daily copies, 12 monthly copies, and manual copies for 12 months.
- What it reads. Only the names, sizes and checksums of its own files; it never downloads their contents. When the owner connects the app, the setup tool reads the Google account's basic details and shows its email address so the owner can confirm the right account; nothing of it is stored.
- Encrypted first. Every backup is encrypted before it leaves Main Out, with a key that only the owner holds. Neither Google nor Main Out's backup service can read a stored backup.
- Kept private. The app's access to Google is stored as an encrypted secret on Cloudflare and used only by the backup service. Google data is never shared, sold, used for advertising or used to train AI models.
Main Out's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
To stop it, remove "Main Out backups" from your Google Account's third-party connections. Backups then stop reaching the Drive, and the owner is alerted. Backup files already in the Drive stay there until they are deleted.
Keeping data safe
- Sign-in uses one-time codes sent by email, and only for addresses the owner has added.
- Data travels over encrypted connections and is kept in private storage with no public address.
- Database backups are encrypted and kept for up to about a year.
